How to deactivate or delete a bank account in Farm Focus

Preparation for Deactivating an Account

Before deactivating a bank account, follow these steps:

1. Ensure the Balance is $0.00

   • Ideally, the balance will automatically reach $0.00 as funds are transferred to your new account.

   • If necessary, create a manual transaction to bring the balance to $0.00.

2. Balance the Account

   • Ensure the account is balanced before deactivating. Learn more about balancing accounts.

Deactivate the Account

1. Go to Bank Accounts

   • Click Settings > Bank Accounts.

2. Ensure the Account is Not Default

   • You cannot deactivate your default account. If the account is your default, follow these steps:

     • Go to Default Account.

     • Select a new default account.

     • Click Save.

1. Select the Account to Deactivate

   • Click on the bank account you want to deactivate.

1. Change the Account Status

   • Go to Account Status.

   • Toggle from Active to Inactive and click Save.

   • The account will now be displayed as Inactive.

Delete a Bank Account

Although it's better to deactivate an account rather than delete it, follow these steps if you decide to delete the account:

1. Go to Bank Accounts

   • Click Settings > Bank Accounts.

2. Ensure the Account is Not Default

   • You cannot delete a default account. To change your default account:

     • Go to Default Account.

     • Select a new default account.

     • Click Save.

1. Select the Account to Delete

   • Click on the bank account you want to delete.

1. Delete the Account

   • Click Remove bank account to permanently delete it.

TIP: Deactivating an account is usually preferred as it allows you to reactivate it later if needed.
