How to export transactions for CCH iFirm

Why

Exporting transactions from Farm Focus using the APS general ledger file makes it easy to import data into CCH iFirm.

Steps to export transactions

Step 1: Export transactions

1. Go to Reports > Export to General Ledger.
2. Download the APS .txt file.
3. Locate the file on your computer and rename the file extension from .txt to .csv.
   • Click Yes to confirm the change.

Step 2: Edit the APS file

1. Open the .csv file in Excel.
2. Delete Column A.
3. Check Row 1 for the bank account number:
   • You can either delete the entire row or just remove the text to prepare for inserting column headers.
   • TIP: If there are multiple bank account numbers in the file, delete those rows as well.
4. Delete the final row labeled ‘X End of file’.
5. Add column headers and reorganise the columns as needed.

Additional Information

• APS includes a tax type Nil in addition to Input, Output, and Exempt.
  • You can enter ‘E’ (exempt) into this field as well as in the Exempt field to capture items with a GST type of ‘P’.
  • To do this, go to Settings > Codes > General Ledger Account Codes.
• TIP: The CodeDescription data may not import correctly. You may want to move this information to the Comment column to ensure it appears in CCH iFirm.
